Chile launches its flowering-desert season, NASA makes airflow visible with glowing paint, and Artemis II's far-side Moon notes include an unusually polite cookie break.

Chile's National Tourism Service: 2026 flowering-desert season launch (October 2). The 17,667-square-kilometer figure is a projection for potential germplasm activation, not a measurement of flowers currently covering every part of that area.
NASA: pressure-sensitive paint wind-tunnel test (October 2).
NASA: recordings from the far side of the Moon (October 2). The flyby predates this issue; the new development is the October 2 release of selected recordings.
